STYLO G - MORE GANJAH (OLIVER TWIST REFIX)

It looks like all that time Stylo G spent with Sneakbo was long enough for him to develop a healthy taste for some good old afrobeats. Directed by Moe Musa, the humorous video reminds me of an Afroman skit.

Check out the UK dancehall star’s refix of the D’Banj hit Oliver Twist as he flies the flag for the Jamaican crew on the approriately titled More Ganjah.

MR SILVA - BOOM BOOM TAH FT. SKOB, FLAVA & KWAMZ

When it comes to the UK afrobeats scene only a few artists are killing it and one of them is definitely Mr Silva who’s proudly representing his British-Ghanaian roots. Boom Boom Tah is a no holds barred skank-till-you-drop tune which follows hot on the heels of Silva’s last smash Bo Won Sem Ma Me. The clubs are so going to get messy with this one - hands and feet Azontoing all over the shop!

NNEKA ‘SHINING STAR’ GETS HOT CHIP REMIX

Joe Goddard of UK electro indie band, Hot Chip reworks Nneka’s Shining Star into a toe-tapping clubtastic serving. Shining Star which features on the Nigerian-German singer’s third album is by far one of my favourite Nneka tunes - easy, care free and infectious.

D’BANJ SITS DOWN WITH OKAYAFRICA STATESIDE

Last week, the one and only Kokomaster aka D’Banj hit up New York for his first ever stateside show, and Okay Africa was there to catch up with him and some of the Mo Hits fam (Wande Coal, Dr.Sid and K-Switch). DJ CHUCKIE GIVES SKEPTA ‘PUNCH HIS FACE’ DUTCH HOUSE TREATMENT

As regular readers of this blog know, when north London MC Skepta released his reworking of Oliver Twist by D’Banj, I was all over it like a rash and still can be found giving it a spin. So, when I saw Skepta tweet the link to yet another version of the track I hastily clicked through. 

Remixed by prolific Amsterdam based DJ and producer, DJ Chuckie alongside Genairo Nvilla, Punch His Face on a whole new sound. This refreshing Dutch House reworking courtesy of Chuckie and Genairo is sure to go down well in club full of revelers on the European continent. Come to think of it, a live mix of the D’Banj original followed by the two Skepta versions would cause a stampede in an Afrobeats rave - dancefloor anyone?
